Aluminium makes vehicles considerably lighter – this reduces fuel consumption and CO2 emissions. But aluminium is also expensive! That is why Baosteel Tailored Blanks and Baosteel Lasertechnik GmbH, together with Novelis, the global market leader for rolled aluminium products, have developed Tailored Blanks made of aluminium and put them on the road.
For Tailored Aluminium Blanks – TAB®, aluminium sheets of different thicknesses and grades are joined together in series for the first time. This saves weight and money, because the targeted use of TAB® reduces the costs of the high-priced material aluminium in the vehicle. Many OEMs have already approved the manufacturing process.
